Wetlands Conservation Law (2021)

Wetlands Conservation Law was promulgated on 24 Dec. 2021, and entered into force on 1 June 2022.

The Law consists of 65 articles, aiming to protect wetlands, preserve biodiversity and ensure ecological safety。

The key points are as follows.

1. Does the protection of the Law extend beyond the listed wetlands?

Listed or not, all the wetlands that meet the definition under the Law are protected (Art. 2).

2. Can I start tourism in wetlands?

Yes (Art. 26). However, efforts should be made to prevent changes in the natural conditions of the wetlands and reduce possible damages (Art. 25).
