On June 28, 2020, China’s legislature, the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, discussed the draft data security law for the first time.

The law aims to establish various basic systems for data security protection and administration, so as to enhance China’s data security protection capabilities, and to deal with national security risks and challenges in the non-traditional field of data.
