The National Security Law was promulgated in 2015 and entered into force on J July 1, 2015.
There are 84 articles in total.
The key points are as follows:
1.National security means a status in which the regime, sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity, welfare of the people, sustainable economic and social development, and other major interests of the state are relatively not faced with any danger and not threatened internally or externally and the capability to maintain a sustained security status.
2.In national security work, overall arrangements shall be made on internal security and external security; territorial security and citizen security; conventional security and unconventional security; and own security and common security.
3.The state shall establish the rules and mechanisms for national security review and supervision, and conduct national security review of foreign investment, particular materials and key technologies, and network information technology products and services that affect or may affect national security, construction projects that involve national security matters, and other major matters and activities to effectively prevent and resolve national security risks.
4.Citizens and organizations shall perform the following duties of safeguarding State security:
(1) Complying with relevant provisions of the Constitution of the People’s Republic of China and the laws and regulations related to State security;
(2) Timely reporting clues of activities that endanger State security;
(3) Truthfully providing evidence of informed activities that endanger State security;
(4) Providing facilities or other assistance for State security work;
(5) Providing necessary support and assistance to State security organs, public security organs and relevant military organs;
(6) Keeping state secrets that have been informed; and
(7) Performing other obligations stipulated by laws and administrative regulations.
