The Administrative Regulations on Online Audio and Video Information Services entered into force on 1 Jan. 2020.
There are 19 articles in total, which aim to supervise the online audio and video information services in China. The key points are as follows:
- The online audio and video information service provider (hereinafter the “service provider”) shall authenticate the user’s identity information.
- No organization or individual shall use the online audio and video information service and related information technology to engage in illegal activities and/or publish illegal content.
- If the service provider and its users make use of new technologies and applications based on deep learning and virtual reality to produce, publish and disseminate unreal audio and video information, they shall add conspicuous marks to such information as reminders and shall not produce, publish and disseminate false news.
- The service provider shall establish a mechanism to refute rumors.
