The Provisions on the Cyber Protection of Children’s Personal Information entered into force on 1 Oct. 2019.
There are 29 articles in total. The Provisions aim to protect the personal information security of children (i.e. minors under 14 years old) by supervising collection, storage, use, transfer and disclosure of children’s personal information through the Internet within the territory of China. Key points of the Provisions include:
No organization or individual is allowed to produce, publish or disseminate information that infringes on the personal information security of children.
When network operators collect, store, use, transfer and disclose children’s personal information, they shall obtain the consent of children’s guardians and ensure the security of the information.
