Provisions on Regulating the Market Order of Internet-based Information Services entered into force on 15 Mar. 2012.

There are 21 articles in total. The Provisions aim to regulate the activities that provide Internet-based information services. Key points of the Provisions include:

  1. The Internet-based information service providers (“service providers”) shall not infringe on the legitimate rights and interests of other service providers, such as interfering with the services of other service providers, making their services or products incompatible with those of other service providers.
  2. Service providers shall not infringe on the legitimate rights and interests of their users, such as refusing to provide services, restricting users from using the services provided by other service providers.
  3. The service providers’ software shall not be bundled with other software.
  4. Where service providers use pop-up advertisements, they shall provide users with functional signs to close or exit the window in a significant manner.
