Regulations on the Security Assessment of Internet-based information services with Attributes of News and Public Opinion or Capable of Social Mobilization entered into force on 30 Nov. 2018.
There are 17 articles in total. The Regulations aim to regulate Internet-based information services with attributes of news and public opinion and social mobilization ability (“public opinion services”). Key points of the Regulations are as follows:
- Public opinion services refer to the Internet-based information services that provide channels for the public to express their opinions or are capable of mobilizing the public to engage in specific activities.
- Where public opinion services providers launch public opinion services, or their service capability and the size of users has significantly changed, or illegal or harmful information has been spread, they shall conduct a security assessment.
