The Work Safety Law was promulgated in 2002 and amended in 2009 and 2014 respectively. The latest revision entered into force on August 31, 2014.
There are 114 articles in total.
The key points are as follows:
1.Business entities shall meet the work safety conditions prescribed by this Law and other relevant laws, administrative regulations, and national or industry standards.
2.The primary person in charge of a business entity shall be fully responsible for the business entity’s work safety.
3.Employees of a business entity shall be entitled to safeguards for work safety according to the law, and perform work safety obligations according to the law. Trade unions shall oversee work safety.
4.The work safety administrative department of the State Council shall conduct comprehensive supervision and administration of work safety nationwide.
5.The state shall strength the development of work safety emergency response capabilities, establish emergency rescue bases and teams in key industries and fields, encourage business entities and other social forces to build emergency rescue teams.
6.Where a work safety accident occurring in a business entity causes any human casualties or property losses to other persons, the business entity shall assume compensatory liability.
