Beijing Courts Release 30-Year IP Report in English

On 29 Nov. 2023, the Beijing High People’s Court released the “White Paper on Beijing Courts Specialized Trial of Intellectual Property Cases for Three Decades (1993-2023)” (北京法院知识产权专业化审判三十年白皮书(1993-2023), hereinafter the “White Paper”).

In addition to the Chinese version, this White Paper is also available in English, indicating a strong intention to broaden international understanding of the report’s content.

The report documents the overall situation of Beijing courts in intellectual property cases from 1993 to 2023.

The data indicates that from 1993 to September 2023, Beijing courts received 624,577 intellectual property cases and concluded 598,228 cases, with an average annual growth rate exceeding 22%.

China’s First Tribunal-Ordered Interim Measure Issued in Beijing

In October 2024, an arbitral tribunal at the Beijing Arbitration Commission (BAC/BIAC) issued an interim measure based on the applicant’s request, which was later confirmed and enforced by the court through a preservation order. This is the first of its kind in China, confirming the validity of tribunal-issued interim measures and highlighting the pro-arbitration stance of Chinese courts.
