In July 2023, the Beijing Fourth Intermediate Court (BFIC) released its “2022 Annual Report on Judicial Review Cases in Domestic Arbitration”. As a court with jurisdiction over two of the largest arbitration institutions in China, namely the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC) and Beijing Arbitration Commission (BAC), BFIC is a major player in China’s arbitration landscape.

The Chinese government plans to implement the “Work Plan for the Special Action of Severely Cracking Down on the Illegal Application of Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART)” from June to December 2023. The plan aims to crack down on the trade of gametes, zygotes, and embryos in any form, as well as the illegal application of ART, such as surrogacy and the illegal collection and donation of eggs.
